Garden Update: On the Brink

With the warmer weather, we’ve crossed over from spring to summer, and with it the summer harvest is almost on.  We’re just on the brink of harvesting so much from our gardens.  The zucchinis are almost ready, the berries are hanging green on the branches, green beans are flowering like crazy, and the onions are starting to pop above the ground.  With summer thunderstorms coming in, the garden is finally getting enough water and is exploding with growth and we’re getting to the point where dinner is often a last minute scavenge in the garden for something to eat.

The children’s garden space is a work in progress and isn’t as extensive as in our last home, but each child has their own space to grow a few special things and the sunflower house is growing steadily.  I have all kinds of thoughts for next year to create a welcoming environment that invites kids to come, play and garden, but we’ll see!!

How’s your garden growing?

Each Friday I share photos from our garden with an update about what we’re doing, what’s growing, and what we’re eating.  I invite you to come play along, I love seeing what others are trying.  You can join the fun in 2 ways:

  • If you blog, I welcome you to write a post or share a post from that week about what’s growing in your garden
  • If you aren’t a blogger, I invite you to join my gardening flickr group and share photos of your garden from this week
  • And last – if you don’t want to blog or share photos, just follow along and check out all the links and photos and maybe share a comment with your own gardening experience from the week
